Ferrofluids is a oil based liquid made up of millions of iron particles. When put under a magnetic field, the particles in the solution start to rearrange due to the attraction and repulsion of iron.
Now if water colors are added to the ferrofluid, these pop-art looking structures start to appear. Ferrofluid is oil based so it does not mix with the watercolors, At the same time it is held in position by the magnet underneath it. So it tries to find a way around the water colors and therefore forms these black channels.
This series exists at the confluence of art and science. The images taken under a microscope of the magnetic liquid, show the phenomenon of magnetism in an unseen way and encourage us to conceptualise in new ways
